1. EN 71-3: 2019 standard into effect

 

On October 16, 2019, the OFFICIAL journal of the EU published an announcement that EN 71-3:20:19 was officially incorporated into the coordinated standard system, indicating that the current standard was changed from EN 71-3:20:19 to EN 71-3:20:19, while the old standard EN 71-3:20:13 +A3:2018 expired on April 15, 2020.For updates, please see previous information.

 

2. The number of items tested for phthalates in annex 17 to REACH increased to 7

3. ISO 8124-3: 2020 standard into effect

 

In March 2020, ISO released a new standard, ISO 8124-3:2020, which also replaced the old standard, ISO 8124-3:2010/Amd 2:2018, as shown in the figure below.

 

 

4. Update of American children's jewelry standards

 

A new ASTM F2923-20 standard for children's jewelry has been released, replacing the old ASTM F2923-14 standard.The main changes are as follows:

 

Reduction of total cadmium content from 300 PPM to 75ppm;

Increased phthalate requirements for plastic materials for contactable parts.

 

China has approved and issued 7 VOC standards

 

On March 4, 2020, the State Administration for Market Regulation (STANDARDIZATION Administration) approved and issued seven national standards that limit volatile organic compounds (VOC) and other substances that can be used in paints, adhesives, inks and cleaning agents.Two of them are new standards: cleaning agent (GB 38508), ink (GB 38507);5 items are revised standards: wood coatings (GB 18581), wall coatings for construction (GB 18582), industrial protective coatings (GB 30981) and adhesives (GB 33372).GB 38507-2020 will take effect on April 1, 2021, and the remaining standards will take effect on December 1, 2020.
