Australia releases mandatory product standards for button batteries

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has issued four mandatory standards for button/coin batteries

Recently, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission(ACCC) has released four mandatory standards for button/coin batteries. They are:

 

● Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020;

● Consumer Goods (Products Containing Button/Coin Batteries) Information Standard 2020;

● Consumer Goods (Button/Coin Batteries) Safety Standard 2020;

● Consumer Goods (Button/Coin Batteries) Information Standard 2020.

 

The mandatory standards will come into force from June 2022 and suppliers that export button/coin batteries and products containing button/coin batteries to Australia will have to comply with the requirements in these standards.The table below summarizes the requirements of these mandatory standards.
